The 6.4L Power Stroke is based on International’s MaxxForce 7 engine platform.
International’s design has evolved from the dated HEUI to a common-rail injection system, the heart of which is a Bosch CP4 injection pump.
The engine also benefits from two sequentially mounted turbochargers, which provide such
benefits such as reduced turbo lag and improved overall performance characteristic.
Learning from issues with the 6.0L Power Stroke, the 6.4 features larger M16 head bolts
and the 4-bolt-per-cylinder design is favorably positioned for superior clamping force.
